Gill meets top police brass,
discusses steps to check violence

K P S Gill, security adviser to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, after consultations with senior officials in Delhi, and held an operational meeting with the top police brass on possible steps to check the continuing violence in the state.

Gill met DGP K Chakravarty and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner P C Pandey at the commissioner's office in the wake of a fresh spurt in violence since Sunday.

Gill has reportedly sought the services of an elite regiment of Punjab police, raised by him at the height Sikh militancy in the state.

Gill met Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and other Central officials in Delhi on Tuesday.
