POTA to be used in
riots cases: Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi of politicising the Gujarat issue and said his government will use the Prevention of Terrorism Act to deal with those fomenting trouble in the state.

Speaking to reporters after a peace rally at Kirtistambh ground in Baroda, Modi said a thorough investigation would be conducted into the on-going violence.

About Sonia Gandhi's visit to Gujarat, he said it was "politically motivated."

Lashing out at Sonia for her 'Gandhi-Godse' statement, Modi said she "did not utter a single word about the plight of the people of the state."

Modi said the state government would add its contribution to the Rs 150 crore [Rs 1500 million] rehabilitation package announced by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and implement it within four months.
