The National Human Rights Commission has rejected the 'perfunctory report' of the Gujarat government on the recent violence in the state and gave it another four days to file a 'more comprehensive one', Commission Chairman Justice J S Verma said on Thursday.
"We had taken a suo motu notice of the developments in Gujarat immediately after the incidents of violence began. We had sent a notice to the state government on the basis of reports in the media. But the preliminary report was not comprehensive, it had lot of gaps and was done perfunctorily," Verma told a press conference in Ahmedabad.
"I met Chief Minister Narendra Modi today and told him about this. We expect the state government to file a comprehensive report on the situation in the next three to four days," he said.
"The situation in the state is far from normal," Verma said.
He added that the people were still scared and insecure.
