Board exams cancelled in parts of Gujarat

Examinations for class X and XII conducted by the Gujarat Board for Secondary Education were cancelled in Bharuch district on Tuesday.

Indefinite curfew was imposed in Bharuch town after two persons were stabbed and one sustained injuries in police firing on Monday.

One of the victims died of stab wounds the same night, police said.

Baroda and Ahmedabad were the other two cities where the board examinations -- which began on Monday after being postponed by a week -- were cancelled due to the tense situation.

However, examinations were on in the rural centres of Bharuch, Baroda and Ahmedabad districts, the police said.
