Mob surrounds village; houses, shops set ablaze

An armed mob surrounded a village dominated by a minority community in Gujarat's Mehsana district and set on fire houses and shops late on Friday night, senior police officers said.

There are about 250 to 300 people belonging to the minority community living in two mohallas in Sardarpur village, they said.

Frantic efforts were on to rush security personnel to the village when reports last came in.
