2 BSF commanders killed by Pak shelling

Two BSF commanders were on Thursday killed when Pakistani troops fired mortars and opened heavy fire at areas adjacent to Jammu, officials said on Thursday.

A deputy commandant and an assistant commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF) were killed and a soldier injured in the shelling, an official said.

It was the first time in recent skirmishes that middle-level BSF officers were killed, he said.

Meanwhile, three civilians were injured in Pakistani shelling in Rajouri district in southwest Kashmir.

The fighting came hours after United States Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld arrived in Islamabad from New Delhi for talks with President General Pervez Musharraf to help ease the current Indo-Pak tensions.
