Two dozen houses damaged in Pak shelling

About two dozen houses were damaged and several cattle killed in shelling by Pakistani troops from across the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu and Kashmir since Tuesday, official sources said on Wednesday.

The sources said Pakistani troops targeted four villages of Bhawani, Ser, Bakhri and Sodi in Noushera sector of Rajouri district till Tuesday evening in which eleven houses were damaged and many cattle killed.

Over a dozen houses were damaged in Jhallas area of Poonch district in mortar shelling from across the LoC on Tuesday, the sources said, adding about 100 people have migrated to Poonch town.

Exchange of mortar shelling also took place last night in Khora, Manyari, Paharpur and Pansar areas of Samba sector and Nawapind and Gharana areas of R S Pura sector in Jammu district last night without any damage or casualty on the Indian side, a BSF spokesman said.

The spokesman said that any damage or casualty on the Pakistani side could not be ascertained.

However, an unofficial report said the 120-feet high tower at Dandar post in Pakistan opposite Suchetgarh village in Samba sector was blasted in retaliatory action by Indian troops.
