India welcomes Straw's statement on ISI-ultras link

Shahid K Abbas in New Delhi

India on Tuesday welcomed British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw's statement in the House of Commons that Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence has links with terrorist groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I think the British foreign secretary's reported statement really points to a well established reality," external affairs ministry spokesperson Nirupama Rao said.

"I haven't seen the statement but we in India have all along pointed that the epicentre of terrorism in our region is Pakistan," she said.

Rao said the linkages between the ISI and the terrorist groups have been extensively documented and there is a body of evidence to prove it.
