Any time is auspicious for me: Kalam

"Any time is auspicious for me," National Democratic Alliance nominee for the post of President A P J Abdul Kalam remarked when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan spoke to him over phone on Tuesday to know when he would like to file his nomination papers.

When Mahajan asked him whether he had any auspicious time in mind, Kalam said, "The earth rotates around its own axis and we get day and night. The earth orbits around the sun and we get one year per orbit. As long as these two astronomical -- not astrological -- events take place, any time is an auspicious time for me."

Meanwhile, the security for the scientist was beefed up on Tuesday, police said.

The Anna University guest house, where Kalam is living for the past five months, has been cordoned off by the police.

Kalam is already under Z Plus category security cover after the December 13 attack on Parliament.

Notwithstanding the security, the university complex is in a festive mood with teachers and students expressing jubilation over Kalam's nomination for the presidential polls.
