Armitage arrives in Pakistan on peace mission

US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage arrived in Islamabad on Thursday in a bid to help lower tensions between India and Pakistan.

He met Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar and Foreign Secretary Inam-ul Haq and was due call on President Pervez Musharraf, foreign ministry sources said.

The US dignitary is expected to press Pakistan to stop cross-border infiltration into India.
