Indo-Pak situation 'marginally better': Powell

The United States on Thursday described the present situation between India and Pakistan as 'marginally better'.

"I think the situation is marginally better... I think things are a bit better. But at the same time, we put in a new travel advisory because it is still a tense situation," US Secretary of State Colin Powell said, commenting on the second travel advisory to its citizens.

He said the travel warning did not reflect necessarily any further deterioration.

"It is just that we wanted to encourage people to defer their travel to the region for now and to consider coming home under our authorised departure rules," Powell said.
