Over 61,000 complete Amarnath yatra

Over 61,000 yatris have had darshan at the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir since the yatra began on July 19.

Another batch of 2,698 pilgrims were expected to arrive at the cave shrine on Tuesday, an official spokesman said.

Over 45,000 pilgrims have returned to the base camps from the caves located at an altitude of 3,880 metres.

A fresh batch of 2,698 pilgrims -- 2,069 men, 305 women, 20 children and 304 sadhus -- left Jammu for the shrine in 155 vehicles on Tuesday.

Meteorological office forecast said the skies along the yatra route would remain cloudy and rain at some places was possible.
