A copy of the UNDP report was presented to Joshi by UNDP resident representative Brenda Gael in Delhi on Tuesday.
"We consider it incomplete. Will only material factors such as income and power consumption be the yardstick for measuring the development of a society?"
"How about assessing morality, spirituality, basic satisfaction and crime rate?" Joshi asked.
"Our people may be poor but not dishonest. We are better than them (developed countries) in many respects. We can give the world a new outlook, a new sense of happiness," Joshi said while inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's education wing Vidya bharati in Delhi.
RSS chief K S Sudarshan and Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling were also present on the occasion.
