Outgoing President K R Narayanan on Wednesday extended his greetings to A P J Abdul Kalam, who will be sworn in as the 11th head of the Republic on Thursday.
Wishing him success and fulfilment in this highest office, Narayanan said in his farewell address to the nation: "I applaud him as a distinguished scientist and technologist and as a scholar and a humanist."
