Orissa high court lawyers on strike for second day

Giridhar Gopal in Bhubaneswar

Orissa high court lawyers in Cuttack continued to strike work for the second day on Tuesday to protest the demolition of a shed in front of the district collectorate by the administration.

District Collector Aswini Baishnav said irate lawyers also beat up government officials on Monday.

The lawyers were using the shed as a meeting place. They claim that the administration demolished the shed without any prior notice.

Baishnav, however, said that notice had been issued prior to the demolition.
