60% Muslims desert houses on
rathyatra route

Nearly 60 per cent of the Muslims residing along the route of the Jagannath Rathyatra to be taken out in Ahmedabad on Friday have left their homes fearing an outbreak of violence, a peace committee official said on Thursday.

The Muslims have decided to observe a 'janata curfew' along the route of the yatra, Azij Gandhi said.

The rathyatra would be taken out under the supervision of the Rapid Action Force, Border Security Force, the Central Reserve Police Force and other paramilitary forces, police said.
