Orissa: BJD wins Nayagarh by-election

Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) nominee Mandakini Behera on Thursday won the by-election from the Nayagarh assembly constituency in Orissa defeating her nearest rival Sitakanta Mishra of the Congress by a margin of 14,763 votes.

BJD retains the seat, which was held by Behera's husband, former school and mass education minister Bhagabat Behera, whose death had caused the by-poll.
