Victims' bodies brought to Ahmedabad

The bodies of 54 victims of the attack on the Sabarmati Express in Godhra in Gujarat on Wednesday were brought to the Sola civil hospital on the outskirts of Ahmedabad early on Thursday, hospital sources said.

Out of the total 58 victims, four bodies were identified on Wednesday, following which two of them were taken to Baroda, one to Surat and one was claimed by the relatives at Godhra railway station.

Of the remaining 54 bodies, 26 have been identified so far and handed over to the relatives at the hospital, they said.

Meanwhile, VHP senior vice-president Acharya Giriraj Kishore visited the hospital, the sources said.

The burning incident also sparked violence at Baroda and Anand railway stations resulting in the death of two more persons.

The injured - 31 men, nine women and three children - had been admitted to the civil hospital at Godhra.
