Survivors of attack rendered speechless

Shattered windowpanes and pieces of stones scattered inside the compartments bore testimony to the dastardly attack on the Sabarmati Express, as the train chugged into Ahmedabad railway station on Wednesday evening.

Two coaches of the train, which bore the brunt of the attack, were detached at the Godhra railway station after they were reduced to a mangled state by the fire set off by miscreants.

Relatives of the dead cried inconsolably and those of the injured, many of them in bandages, threw themselves in embrace when their dazed kin got off the train.

Inflammatory speeches were made against Muslims by the worked up karsevaks, who were the ostensible target of the attack.

Policemen were deployed at the station, where the train reached at about 4.45 pm (IST). Anxious relatives had thronged the station hours before the train arrived.
