JKPDP candidate files nomination for second phase of J&K poll

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples' Democratic Party nominee Mohammad Sarfraz Khan on Saturday became the first candidate to file nominations for the second phase of assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.

Khan filed papers from Beerwah constituency of Budgam district of central Kashmir.

The notification for the second phase of the polls was issued on August 29. No nominations were filed on the first day on Friday from any of the 28 segments of Jammu, Srinagar and Budgam districts, which are going to polls on September 24.

Ten assembly segments in Srinagar, five in Budgam and 13 in Jammu districts would go to polls in the second phase.

The last date for filing nominations for the second phase is September 5. Scrutiny would be held next day and the last date for withdrawal is September 9.
