Dutt's the way, Congressmen hail
'patriot' Shabir Shah

There must have been many things on the mind of Democratic Freedom Party leader Shabir Shah when he accepted the Ram Jethmalani-led Kashmir Committee's invitation to come to New Delhi for a second round of talks. But he would never have imagined that he would get such a rousing reception at the domestic airport in New Delhi, and that too from hundreds of Congress workers!

Sounds unbelievable? Well, read on.

When Shah landed at Delhi there were a lot of journalists who wanted sound bytes from him on the Kashmir issue. As the separatist leader finished his interaction with the media, the Congress workers, who were apparently waiting for party leader Sunil Dutt to arrive from Srinagar, garlanded him and showered rose petals on him.

They even shouted slogans like Bharat Mata ki jai and Desh ke laal, tujhe salam! in praise of Shah's "patriotism" and "commitment" to the nation.

An embarrassed Shah quickly walked past the enthusiastic Congressmen and boarded a car.

Now, on the face of it, it was a case of mistaken identity and a comedy of errors.

Or was it?
