EC to accept applications for I-card in J&K till September 15

In view of the overwhelming response to electoral photo-identity cards (EPIC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission has extended the last date for accepting the application forms till September 15.

The decision was taken to ensure that the maximum number of voters get the cards for easy identification of the electorate and smooth conduct of the elections, J&K Chief Electoral Officer Pramod Jain told PTI in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Jain said 600,000 cards had already been issued while 200,000 more were being issued, adding that around 500,000 fresh applications had been received and the demand for the cards had risen over the past few days.
