Blast in Doda district; colonel killed

A Rashtriya Rifles officer was killed and two army jawans critically injured when an improvised explosive device went off in Marmat area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, sources said.

The explosion occurred at around 0840 hours when troops were carrying out search operations in the higher reaches.

The injured were admitted to an army hospital in Udhampur.

In another incident, a Special Police Officer, Gulzar Ahmed, was killed when terrorists opened fire on a police post in Gandoh area on Monday evening, the sources said.

Terrorists also abducted four shepherds from Medow in Doda district on Monday, they said.

One of them was later freed, but the fate of the others was not known, they said.
