ISI targets misguided youths of Gujarat

In what could be an alarming signal, a terrorist who was arrested by security agencies at Moradabad has revealed that at least 15 youths from Gujarat have been taken to Pakistan for arms training by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

Intelligence agencies have corroborated the report, as some youths have been found missing from Bharuch district of Gujarat, sources said.

Following the communal violence in the state, Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence sent in sympathisers to Muslim-dominated areas to "brainwash" certain youths, the sources quoted the arrested terrorist as saying.

The youths managed to reach Kashmir from where a group of 10 crossed into Pakistan from the Sopore side, while another group of five managed to sneak out through Kupwara district, they said.

The authorities were now keeping a close watch in the state to ascertain whether any of the missing youths had returned, the sources said.
