Fernandes meets victims at Gujarat camps

Defence Minister George Fernandes on Saturday met riot-affected people at relief camps in Mehsana and Godhra districts of Gujarat.

Fernandes, who had visited these places in February immediately after violence broke out, enquired about relief operations and other government assistance.

He was also scheduled to visit Baroda later in the evening and Surat on Sunday before leaving for Delhi.

Immediately after his arrival on April 18, the defence minister had met Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Ashok Narayan.
