Gujarat peaceful, night curfew continues

Barring an isolated incident of stone pelting that forced police to burst teargas shells to disperse a mob in Ahmedabad, the situation in violence-torn Gujarat remained peaceful on Thursday.

However, night curfew continued in 10 police station areas in Ahmedabad.

One woman, who was injured on Wednesday when some miscreants set her hutment on fire in Vatva area, succumbed on Thursday afternoon.

Night curfew remained in force in Barodam, Bharuch, Viramgam and some other places as a precautionary measure.

Board examinations, which commenced on Thursday, were conducted peacefully. Over 90 per cent Muslim students, however, boycotted the exams.
