EC will not give into pressure: Lyngdoh

The Election commission will not yield to any "political pressure" and set its own agenda in holding polls, Chief Election Commissioner J C Lyngdoh said in Coimbatore on Thursday.

"We don't have any pressure. We will decide on our own like the Supreme Court does," he said, when asked whether any political pressure was being exerted to conduct polls in Gujarat.

When asked if the law and order situation in Gujarat was conducive for holding elections, he said: "It is all hypothetical. I have nothing to say on Gujarat."
