Four killed in fresh violence in Gujarat

Four people were killed, three in stabbing and one in police firing, and 11 injured as members of two communities clashed and houses set on fire in fresh outbreak of violence in Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning.

One person was killed and three injured when police opened fire on a stone-pelting mob in Vejalpur area, police said.

Two people were stabbed to death at Ramol locality, while six injured when the police opened fire to quell an unruly mob, they said.

A person was stabbed in Danilimda area, while an 18-year-old youth, who was injured in a stabbing incident in Dholka on March one, succumbed to injuries in hospital, police said.

In another stabbing incident at Viramgram, one man was injured, while two houses were set afire by a mob in Ramol area and a house burnt at Danilimda.

Police lobbed teargas shells at Nagoriwad locality of Shahpur area to disperse mobs on Tuesday night, they said.

Curfew remained in force in Dariapur police station area on the third day on Wednesday after violence on Saturday left three dead.
