Chandra Shekhar plans
'car yatra' from June 4

Imran Khan in Bhubaneswar

Former prime minister Chandra Shekhar will begin a countrywide 'car yatra' from Puri in Orissa on June 4.

The yatra, from Puri to Porbandar in Gujarat, will cover all major states in the country.

Shekhar and his associates will ''meet the rural masses and urban poor, to expose the ill-effects of the Centre's economic policies''.

"The yatra hopes to awaken and mobilise people against the suicidal economic policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government," an organiser of the yatra stated in Puri.

Shekhar will kick off the yatra by addressing public meetings in Puri.

His yatra will touch six districts in the state, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Talcher, Deogarh, Sambhalpur and Bargar.
