Blasts damage pillars for
border fencing in J&K

Militants triggered two bomb explosions near the international border in Kanachak sector of Jammu division, damaging seven pillars meant for border fencing.

The first blast occurred at 0200 hours at Beli Azmat, resulting in damage to seven pillars, a police spokesman said, adding that another blast occurred around 0900 hours in the vicinity of Mata Tali, without causing any loss.

The militants, who had sneaked from across the border, had planted the time bombs and later fled towards Pakistan, he said.

However, there was no casualty in these blasts which took place about four to five hundred metres inside our territory of the IB," the spokesman said.

The incident was the second such along IB during the last four days.

Twenty pillars were damaged in two blasts in Ramgarh sector of the division on May 19.

Meanwhile, there was an exchange of fire between Pakistani Rangers and Border Security Force personnel in four places along the IB in Jammu on Monday night. However, no casualty or damage was reported from the Indian side, the spokesman said.

The Pakistani Rangers have been resorting to firing on the Indian side along the IB for several days in a bid to disrupt fencing along the border, he added.
