105 children hit by food
poisoning in Orissa

Imran Khan in Bhubaneswar

One hundred and five school children fell ill after consuming food in Orissa on Thursday afternoon.

The children fell ill after eating food at Gokhani Up School in Rajnagar block under Kenderapara district, Kenderapara district administration officials said.

The children started vomiting and fell asleep after consuming the food. Most children complained of weakness and nausea.

Some schoolchildren were admitted to a local health centre and others were treated by local doctors at their residences.

Sources said a poisonous snake was detected in the food by the cook, but no one stopped the children from eating the food.

The school administration has denied that its school children had fallen sick.
