3 policemen killed in fidayeen attack on SOG camp

Three policemen were killed after fidayeen (suicide squad) stormed a heavily guarded camp of the Special Operations Group of the state police in Talhallan Pattan on the Srinagar-Baramulla national highway.

Police sources said militants fired indiscriminately on the policemen guarding the camp, and even hurled grenades. Accompanied by heavy fire, they forced their entry into the camp. In the resultant shootout, three policemen were killed. They have been identified as inspector Karnail Singh, subinspector Mohamed Amin and assistant subinspector Mohammed Sultan. One civilian was also killed in the crossfire, and has been identified as Abdul Rasheed Ganaie.

One militant was also killed in the incident.
