Former Union Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Thursday urged India and Pakistan to allow free trade and travel between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Sayeed heads the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party.
"This will help people of the divided state to have one to one interaction helping to strengthen social, political and emotional bonds," Sayeed said at the end of a meeting of his party's executive committee.
Mufti urged all the concerned parties to stop hostile acts, while terming the Vajpayee-Musharraf "a good beginning."
He added that confidence-building measures such as disbanding of Special Operations Group, disarming of surrendered militants and return of Kashmiri Pandits, were required for creating a conducive atmosphere.
