Stalin, others appear in court, sign register

Madras Mayor M K Stalin, former ministers K Ponmudi and Ko Si Mani, and four others on Monday appeared before Principal Sessions Judge S Ashok Kumar in compliance with the conditions laid down when they were granted bail in the Rs 120-million flyover construction scam.

The judge had, on July 6, granted conditional bail to the three along with former chief secretary K A Nambiar, councillors Jagadeesan and R S Sridhar and retired superintending engineer Sethuraman.

As per the conditions, they must all appear before the court every Monday.

Later, responding to reporters' queries on whether he would file a petition seeking quashing of the FIR in the flyover case, Stalin said legal experts would be consulted on this.

About the show-cause notice served by the Tamil Nadu government to dissolve the Madras Municipal Corporation, he said a reply would be given after a meeting of elected members on July 26.
