Orissa CM sacks three senior ministers

Imran Khan in Bhubaneshwar

In a surprise development, Naveen Patnaik, the Orissa Chief Minister on Monday evening sacked three senior ministers from his ministry.

They are Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nalinikant Mohanty, Health & Family Minister Kamala Das and Rural Minister (Independent Charge) Prashant Nanda.

Mohanty and Das are of the Biju Janata Dal and Nanda is from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Patnaik has informed Governor M Rajendran about this decision. However, the decision to sack him was not known immediately.

Interestingly, Mohanty was considered as the number two in the Biju Janata Dal ministry and she was also a cabinet minister in Biju Patnaik's time.
