DMK, AIADMK MPs meet Advani

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Members of Parliament on Tuesday separately apprised Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani of their version of events relating to the arrest of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi and two Central ministers.

A three-member DMK delegation comprising Union Minister of State for Health A Raja, Rajya Sabha member P N Siva and Thirunavukarasu met Advani, who returned on Tuesday after a 10-day visit abroad.

They presented a memorandum to the home minister demanding stern action against the Jayalalithaa government for the manner in which the former chief minister and the two Union ministers were arrested.

Later, a 15-member AIADMK delegation met Advani and gave its version of the events leading to the arrest of the DMK leaders. The delegation, comprising State Law Minister C Ponnaiyan and Education Minister M Thambi Durai, also presented a memorandum to the Home Minister.

After a brief meeting with both the delegations, the home minister declined to comment except saying that cabinet would decide whatever has to be done.
