Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

The All Party Hurriyat Conference on Thursday nominated a five-member team to visit Pakistan on January 15. The central government had turned down the Hurriyat's request that all the seven members of the executive council be issued passports to travel to Pakistan.

The APHC's executive council, which met in Srinagar on Thursday, authorised Abdul Ghani Lone, Maulvi Umer Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Maulvi Abbas Ansari and Sheikh Abdul Aziz to undertake the trip to Pakistan for talks with the militant leadership and the military establishment.
