Militants storm BSF bunker; four hurt

For the first time, militants stormed into a heavily guarded bunker of the Border Security Force at Jamallata in downtown Srinagar early on Tuesday morning.

Police sources said that four soldiers were seriously injured in the attack, which occurred at around 0530 hours IST. The injured soldiers were immediately taken to hospital.

Sources said that a group of militants forced entry into the bunker, guarded by the BSF and opened fire on the jawans.

The militants escaped after the attack, before reinforcements from adjoining areas reached the spot, and the area was combed.

This is for the first time that the militants have attacked a bunker in the city. Earlier, they used to target several camps in Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile, two Central Reserve Police Force personnel were shot dead by a drunken colleague, were guarding the residence of a close relative of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

In another incident, agency reports said a Border Security Force jawan opened fire late Monday on his colleagues in downtown Srinagar killing three colleagues and injuring three others.
