7 killed in Orissa road mishap

Seven persons, including three women and a child, were killed when a car collided head-on with a bus near Kapur Singh Chalk in Orissa's Gurudijhatia area on National Highway 42 on Friday, police said.

The mishap occurred when the car driver lost control after being hit by a truck from behind and the vehicle collided against a bus coming from the opposite direction, police said adding one person was seriously injured in the mishap.

All the victims were travelling in the car. The car was going from Manijanga in Jagatsinghpur district to Dhenkanal.

While four of the passengers died on the spot others succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital.

The car driver had been admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.

The bus driver had surrendered to the police.
