Spurious liquor claims 5 more: PTI

Close on the heels of a liquor tragedy at Puri, which left 10 people dead, spurious liquor has claimed five more lives in Bhubaneswar since Thursday night, police said.

Two persons belonging to Hansapal and Naharkanta villages, who drank the killer brew, were rushed to the Capital Hospital in serious condition on Thursday night. They died soon after, the police said.

While two persons died at the hospital on Friday, another, who was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack in a serious condition also died, the sources said.

Four others who had also consumed the spurious liquor were still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A betel shop owner, Sunakar Jena, who had allegedly been trading in illicit liquor had been arrested in this connection.
