The weapons handed over by the Bangladesh Rifles to the Border Security Force for verification have been found to be that of the 16 BSF men killed in a BDR attack on April 18 in Mankachar sub-division of Assam.
The questioning of the two injured BSF jawans has also begun, BSF sources said.
Senior BSF officers in Shillong said the weapons -- 11 SLRs, four carbines, one pistol, two grenades, two wireless transmitters and a large cache of ammunition -- have been examined and verfied at Tura in Meghalaya.
The Bangladesh Rifles had handed over the weapons on Thursday at the Mankachar border outpost and BSF Commandant of 118 Bn, S K Zutshi, had received them.
Meanwhile, the two injured jawans -- Akshay Kumar and Bimal Kumar -- are being questioned about the events that led to the BDR attack.
The situation along the Assam-Meghalaya-Tripura border with Bangladesh is stated to be normal with flag meetings between the BSF and BDR being held at regular intervals.
