The outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Gurbachan Jagat Tuesday said the local area commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen are in favour of the cease-fire announced by the Union government.

Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Jagat said the people in the state want peace.

He said according to the information received by his department, Hizb's local area commanders favour ceasefire and they have communicated this to their leadership.

Jagat said J&K police had played a vital role in fighting militancy and contributed in controlling the situation in the Valley.
