Shiv Sena stages walkout in Lok Sabha

Shiv Sena members of Parliament Thursday staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha over the Centre's announcement of a unilateral ceasefire and killing of five truckers in Jammu and Kashmir.

The move is a major embarrassment to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government, as the Sena is one of its constituents.

Soon after the House assembled for the day, the Shiv Sena sought to raise the above issues despite repeated requests by Speaker G M C Balayogi not to do so during Zero Hour.

Even efforts by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan to pacify the Sena members failed as they continued to raise slogans.

Earlier, Shiv Sena members staged a sit-in outside the House to protest the killings and the Centre's ceasefire offer.

Militants masquerading as army men shot dead five truckers on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Doda district Tuesday night.
