Hurriyat offers to talk to militant leaders

All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Abdul Ghani Bhat on Thursday said the organisation was willing to hold talks with militant leaders to work out a solution to the Kashmir issue provided the Indian government allowed them to do so.

"Hurriyat wants to talk to militant leaders. It all now depends on the Indian government whether it allows us to start this process of dialogue," Bhat told Aaj Tak, a television programme.

Reacting to the month-long unilateral ceasefire announced by the Centre in Jammu and Kashmir, Bhat said if the ceasefire was accompanied by 'meaningful and result-oriented talks to settle the Kashmir problem, it would indicate a positive change in Indian government's policy towards Kashmir."
