The Need for Speed in Building a Successful Internet Startup will be discussed by two men who have proved in the past several years what they will be telling members and invitees of The Indus Entrepreneurs in Atlanta on January 20.

The speakers are: Palaniswamy "Raj" Rajan, co-founder and CTO, VerticalOne Corporation, and its founder and CEO, Gregg Freishtat.

What does it take to build a company from $ 0 to $ 166 million in 10 months? How do you build a company from zero to 90+ employees in 10 months? How do you speed up the fund raising process?

These and other related issues will be discussed at the meeting.

VerticalOne allows Internet users to view a slew of personal and business information at one destination. Users enter by using a masterword, and access banking and mortgage statements, credit card statements, voice mail and e-mail.

Rajan's record includes founding and being the chairman of Emerald Systems, Inc and Resourcis Information Services, Inc, before joining VerticalOne.

Emerald Systems, Inc is an object technology consulting and development firm while Resourcis Information Services is a technology recruiting firm specializing in staffing high tech startup companies.

Freishtat formerly served as senior vice-president of Premiere Technologies overseeing the strategic direction of their Internet strategies and communication products. Prior to joining Premiere, he was president, CEO and founder of Telet Communications, an Internet communications company that was acquired by Premiere in September 1996.

Like TiE in California, Massachusetts and New York, the Atlanta chapter too invites regularly seasoned professionals and CEOs of successful high-tech companies. TiE Atlanta is hoping to have a bigger profile in the new year, given the fact that Atlanta is the home for many Internet businesses.

Speakers in recent years include Sabeer Bhatia, founder and president of HotMail which was acquired by Microsoft; K B Chandrasekhar, founder and chairman of Exodus: Tom Noonan, president, CEO of ISS (the leading InternetSecurity company) Kanwal Rekhi, founder, president of TIE (founder and mentor of several high-tech companies).

The January 20 meeting will take place between 1800 and 2000 at 250, 14th Street, GCATT, Atlanta.

Members: Free, Non-Members: $ 25 (includes appetizers); Additional information: www.tie-atlanta.org; E-mail: info@tie-atlanta.org
