Basu assures all help for shooting of Water

West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu has offered Deepa Mehta and her crew full support if they wished to shoot Water in the state, according to Star TV.

Basu's offer comes after actress Shabana Azmi made an appeal to him in this regard.

The shooting of the film was cancelled in Uttar Pradesh after Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists vandalised the sets and a Shiv Sena activist attempted suicide.

After that other states, including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, had offered the film's crew all assistance.

The West Bengal chief minister said Azmi would meet the state minister of information and culture in this regard tomorrow.
