Grenade blasts kills two in Kupwara

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Two persons, including a special police officer, were killed and 24 others injured when suspected militants hurled grenades at the Kupwara bus-stand on Thursday afternoon.

Six of the injured, who were taken to a hospital in Srinagar, are stated to be critical.

Rest of the injured are being treated in Kupwara.

The blast, which occurred at around 1245 hours (IST), created panic in the town.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Dilbagh Singh (in-charge of Baramulla and Kupwara districts) visited the site of the blasts.
