Lok Sabha rejects Cong's judicial probe demand
The Lok Sabha on Tuesday rejected by voice vote a motion moved by the Congress seeking a judicial probe into the recent massacre of Amarnath pilgrims and others in the Kashmir valley after a spirited reply by Home Minister L K Advani that such a move was not feasible in view of the ongoing executive inquiry.
Replying to the debate on the motion for which the House sat late on Monday night, Advani said the government was awaiting the report of the inquiry committee. On receipt of this report, the government would consider whether a judicial inquiry was necessary.
