At least six Border Security Force jawans were killed and 46 others injured, some seriously, in an explosion, suspected to have been triggered by militants, in Udhampur district, about 90 km from Jammu, on Sunday, official sources said.

The blast, caused by an Improvised Explosive Device, which was believed to have been planted by militants on the highway near Tamatar turning, occurred around 0800 hours (IST) when a BSF vehicle passed over it, the sources said.

Rescue teams of police and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the injured to Udhampur hospital. Some of the injured were critical, the sources said.
