Relief distribution ends in shootout in Cuttack

A 60-year-old person was injured in a shootout between two groups over the distribution of polythene sheets at Kulasarichuan, a cyclone-affected village in Cuttack district on Sunday. Hrushikesh Das, the victim was hospitalised in a critical condition.

The police arrested two persons -- Krushna Chandra Sethi and Rabindra Kumar Swain in this connection, while the former's son Sania Sethi, said to be the prime accused in the case, was absconding. According to reports, the trouble began when a particular family in the village was deprived of polythene sheets while they were being distributed among the victims by the village committee.
